"I actually toured for 2 years with a Leslie 122 cabinet that I inherited from my Great Uncle who had played the B3 in his church. It remained pristine for nearly 25 years tucked away in the corner of his church and suddenly was being abused by hand trucks, spilled drinks and cigarette smoke night after night.
I downsized at some point to a Fender Vibratone cab being driven by using the Line Out of my main amp into a Trainwreck Express for power and while it enabled me to nail the "Cold Shot" tone it lacked the richness and grind of my old 122 (though the Trainwreck did help in this department) not to mention lacking the brake that allowed for the essential ramping up and slowing down of the spin of the top speaker and bottom baffle for full-on organ like effects from a guitar rig.
Then came a series of pedal simulators none of which really did the trick. I guess the original H&K came the closest and I was somewhat satisfied with it for a while, but without running it in an effects loop it was horribly noisy. Then H&K released Version 2.0 of their simulator which solved the noise problem, for the most part, but simultaneously lost some of its magic. In an attempt to appease those who had complained about the original's high signal-to-noise ratio they had traded some of the realism of the effect.
The first time I played a Neo Instruments Ventilator pedal I truly felt like I was playing through my Great Uncle's 122 for the first time since it had been permanently relegated to the music room in my house.
The Ventilator is The Pedal for those seeking the ultimate Leslie 122 tone in a beautifully constructed, very carefully thought out and designed pedal format that is not only considerably smaller, lighter, less fragile and less valuable than a vintage 122, but will actually fit on most pedal boards.
I Highly Recommend it as nearly an absolute necessity!"
