Used & Vintage
A constantly changing selection of great boutique and vintage amplifiers at bargain prices. Every used amplifier we purchase or take in on trade is given a thorough going over for cosmetic imperfections as well as to insure 100% proper working order.
It's standard procedure to re-tube each and every used amplifier we offer, set the bias correctly when applicable and make sure that everything is as tight as the day it was made to eliminate any rattles, buzzes or extraneous noises. Because many of our clients don't play out, the vast majority of used amplifiers we offer are in 100% as new condition both cosmetically and functionally having never left the house of the amp's first owner.
We often offer a warranty on used amplifiers and even have a Certified Pre-Owned deal worked out with a few of the manufacturers for which we are a dealer. This CPO warranty mirrors the original manufacturers warranty except it requires the owner to pay shipping charges if the amp ever needs to be returned for repair. There's a touch of stiffness to the amp's feel that creates an urgent response that many players who prefer less sag in their amp's feel will find just right. This may be due to a stiffer baffle board versus what Fender used in the 50's, The interior construction is meticulously hand-wired, but all components have been covered in paint, we assume, to avoid circuit copying which makes it more difficult to know exactly what component brands and values Louis is using though everything appears to be top notch and the amp's tone is testament to that. The cabinet construction is absolutely gorgeous; very clean and tight. This is a very well built amplifier with some fantastic tones. We dig it as a Tweed alternative for those looking for more headroom and a tighter feel without the harshness or ear fatigue that can often accompany a fast response amplifier. From Louis Electric's WebsiteHi, I'm Louis Rosano I started out building Tweed Twins back in 1992 I've always had a deep respect for the design principals and manufacturing practices of Leo Fender & Jim Marshall. Having spent so much time working inside their incredible inventions has given me a good deal of insight on how a great guitar amplifier is built. [My Amps] bring a combination of my experience and more than a little bit of my own soul into the mix. I've created a line of amps that I believe stand up to what I call the six requirements of Louis Electric Guitar Amplification... Tone Quality Functionality Aesthetics Value Reliability I don't make false promises that these amplifiers are for every guitar player under the sun. But, I do stand behind the commitment that every amp I build will allow each player to find their Truest Tone. Our amplifiers are for guitar players who feel that their tone makes a statement in the same way their notes and chords do. The accurate response of finger or slide to fretboard and pick to string in order to get at what's real in their playing, that's Truest Tone, and that is what I help each of my customers achieve. SN. 0143 Year of Production: 1987 (only year for silver tolex) Condition: Fair cosmetics, flawless functionality. See photo's for tolex tears and faceplate scratches. "The venerable 1987 release of the Silver Jubilee was a huge deal in my life. I was in college at the time, dead broke, but wanted one so badly I could think of little else. That red mode (higher gain setting) tone was exactly what I was looking for with my Strat. As luck would have it I actually won one of these heads in late '96 via a 60 second guitar solo contest that was sponsored by the local music shop, but then had no cab to play it through for 6 months! For half a year it sat on my dining room table in my apartment while I saved money from tending bar and from playing gigs to buy a cab. Finally I bought a non-matching, used Marshall 412 cab and was able to plug her in and start making music with her. What a great amp. Two Channels, three modes via push/pull pots, shimmery, bold cleans, smooth pushed clean to moderate overdrive and high-gain. This one has some obvious road rash on the tolex and scratches on the faceplate........I guess one *could* have it recovered since the tolex is readily available, but personally, I like the character of this amp just the way it is (very rock-n-roll) and it works perfectly and sounds fantastic" Stu Carter - owner, Fat Sound Guitars Specifications
