This example was special ordered with vintage style, basketweave grille cloth as a cosmetic mate to the Vox Night Train. Yes, it actually costs more than the Vox, but it really makes the Night Train sound so incredible that we feel it is money well spent and still results in a very affordable rig overall.
Of course, it also looks great with other amps. The Basketweave cloth is a $40.00 upgrade, but it lends a slightly vintage look to the cab and also diffuses the top end a bit better for a less directional sound making it essentially "Tone Cloth".
The Port City 112 Oversized, "Wave" technology cabinet is our reference 112 cabinet.
It just works flawlessly with every amp/guitar combination we have tried.
Nice touches such as the recessed, top mounted, metal handle and recessed chrome Port City logo make this cab both functional and attractive.
It's also wide enough that most heads will fit on top of it perfectly.
What really makes this cab work though is an internal construction technique that eliminates standing waves in the cabinet. This makes the cab bigger sounding than it is, smooths out any unwanted harshness or fatiguing frequencies in the upper midrange and, in general, gives the cabinet a larger presence.
The standard speaker is a Celestion Vintage 30 at 8 Ohms which works very well because when used with this cab you get the advantages of the V30 which are: a 30 watt break up point for nice speaker interaction, 65 watts of handling ability and none of the upper mid issues this speaker has a reputation for; the Wave technology eliminates that problem completely.
Also available unloaded for $490.00.
