Lava Cables
When purchasing an instrument cable it's very important to keep in mind that most amp designers do not use ultra high-end, solid core, oxygen free, etc.....cables when dialing in the tone circuits of their amplifiers. In fact an informal poll found most of the designers that Fat Sound works with use cables ranging from Spectrafex, Planet Waves and even Peavey.
If an amp's tone circuit is dialed in using a low to mid-priced cable and you introduce an ultra low capacitance cable to the signal chain your results may be very different versus what the amp designer intended.
This is a clear case where spending more may actually be detrimental to your tone. When it comes to instrument cables, more than just about any other part of this industry, we believe there is a lot of misunderstanding as well as some good old Snake Oil Salesmanship involved.
Keeping this in mind we have found what we feel is a very high-quality cable with an excellent drape and feel, but that is very neutral sounding with low, but not ultra-low capacitance.
